Democracy is not a spectator sport.
Massachusetts YMCA Youth & Government provides an opportunity for youth to become engaged citizens by experiencing the democratic process, building friendships, and finding their voices for meaningful change.
A Student-Led Model Government Program
Each year, students work together in local delegations to prepare for the State Conference event held in Boston at the Massachusetts State House. Students participate in a model version of our state government: Legislators and lobbyists meet in committees and the House chambers to debate legislation while attorneys present their cases before student judges. Students also campaign for office and elect officers who will serve during next year’s program.
